The AHA conference in New Orleans earlier this month was fun and productive. I enjoyed several panels, especially the ones highlighting foodways. Of course, New Orleans is one of the very best culinary cities in the country and I relished visiting Antoine’s and the Commander’s Palace as well as Domenica and the bar at the Napoleon House.
As it turned out, in the exhibit hall Rowman and Littlefield Publishers displayed a poster for my forthcoming book, Paul Robeson: A Life of Art and Activism, right next to a poster advertising the newly released volume How America Eats: A Social History of US Food and Culture written by my good friend Jennifer Jensen Wallach (pictured above, right).
